December 8, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) --
Missions self-titled EP is set for release on Friday, January 5, 2018. This intriguing Los Angeles band plays out regularly and will be touring soon. Influences include the Pixies, Johnny Cash, The Smiths and The Clash.
Missions, who formed in Echo Park in 2013, are Christopher Clark on guitar and lead vocals, Omar Hernandez on vocals and upright bass, and Stephen Obana on drums. Missions deliver an eclectic mix of Western folk and dark wave featuring melodic Smiths-esque riffs with the upright bass holding down the bottom end. The band has been getting airplay on KXLU and has shared the stage with bands like Alyeska, Bang Feather Bang, Gnarvana, and Panthar.
Frontman Chris Clark explains "We started as a full on Rockabilly band, but then decided to do more indie kinda stuff after being rejected to play a show at Spikes in Rosemead. So that's how the current sound came about."
The new EP was recorded in August 2016 at 1753 Recordings by Freddy Zepeda (Death March, Societys Parasites, Nomads, Depraved). The three tracks on the EP are 1. "Stay Gone, 2. "Cry on Command," and 3. "Senora." A music video for the track "Stay Gone" was shot out in the desert earlier this year. An online premiere will be announced soon.
The band's first album titled,
This Is the Death of Music, came out in 2015. The dark dance single off the record titled, “Someones,” as well as a music video were released that same year.
