BLIND IDIOT GOD’S NEW VIDEO FOR ALBUM TRACK “ROLLERCOASTER” STREAMS AT INVISIBLE ORANGES AND OTHER ONLINE PLATFORMS TODAY IN SUPPORT OF UNDERTOW ALBUM
Band prepares to enter the studio to record their fifth long player.
(Brooklyn, NY) — Blind Idiot God released a new video today for Undertow album track “Rollercoaster.” View it at
Invisible Oranges. The band is preparing for a new studio album which will be their fifth long player. “Rollercoaster” can be found on their 1989 album
Undertow, which was recently reissued by Indivisible Music. Invisible Oranges calls the album "disorienting experimental rock."
“Rollercoaster” features live footage of the band from a 1989 European tour date which was artfully edited by Anthony Ventolora to mark Undertow's re-release. Blind Idiot God founder, Andy Hawkins explains "The footage is from Hanover Germany 1989, opening for Psychic TV. Genesis P. Orridge complimented us afterwards on our brand of instrumental music, then asked if he could whip the back of my leather jacket which I was wearing back stage. I indulged him in a mock BDSM display and a good time was had by all."
Undertow, produced by Bill Laswell at the tail end of the 1980's, has grown into a cult classic in the intervening years. The reissue features bonus material including their collaboration with John Zorn (saxophone), Purged Specimen, and a remix of their hard driving collaboration with Henry Rollins for the title track of the movie Freaked (directed by Alex Winter) - the only Blind Idiot God track featuring a vocalist to date.
Following a twenty year hiatus, Blind Idiot God released their first new music of the millennium in the shape of 2015's Before Ever After, and embarked on a series of exclusive live shows throughout Europe, including Roadburn Festival. This year will see the follow up to that critically acclaimed opus, as the band are currently preparing to enter the studio. The as-yet-untitled album will be released later in the year via Indivisible Music, and will be supported with live shows internationally.
The band has shared the stage with artists like Helmet, Black Flag, The Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Die Kreuzen, Don Caballero, Jesus Lizard, Napalm Death, HR, Eekamouse among many others.
The thirteen tracks on Undertow, recorded in 1988 at BC Studios in New York City are 1. "Sawtooth," 2. "Clockwork," 3. "Atomic Whip," 4. "Watch Yer Step," 5. "Drowning," 6. "Major Key Dub," 7. "Alice In My Fantasies," 8. "Rollercoaster," 9. "Dubbing In The Sinai," 10. "Wailing Wall," 11. "Freaked" featuring Henry Rollins (long version), 12. "Purged Specimen" featuring John Zorn and 13.
