V Wins IMA Maxi European Championships
Our Wally 100’ V won the Maxi 1 Class at the International Maxi Association Maxi European Championships in Sorrento, Italy, held as part of Tre Golfi Sailing Week. Under the guidance of North Sails supremo Ken Read the V team performed strongly in the varied conditions, demonstrating the improved performance delivered during a comprehensive winter refit that puts her at the top of a competitive Maxi fleet. “These boats are marvellous to sail. And they are really turning into real race boats now,” concluded Read.
After a tie for first at Palmavela, the first event of the year in Palma, V took another step forwards with her performance at the Europeans. Next up is the Loro Piana Giraglia in June, with a similar format of inshore racing combined with an offshore, in this case the famous race around the Giraglia rock off Corsica.
