Create a Scarecrow! Enter Contest for Village of Owego's Fall Theme
Owego, NY -- The Tioga County Tourism Office announced today that a new initiative is being introduced to help decorate the Village of Owego during the Fall season, as well as provide an opportunity for groups, clubs, schools, churches, or individuals to earn some cash.
Businesses, clubs, organizations and individuals are invited to join in the fun and enter a scarecrow in the "Scarecrow Owego" competition. According to Stella Reschke, Director of Tioga County Tourism, "we are hopeful that the community will get behind the scarecrow program. It really will help to dress up our retail business district during the busy fall season. If successful, we could expand next year's competition to compete with other Tioga County towns and villages." Attached is a Scarecrow Flyer.
Entering categories include: "The 'I Love NY' Crow," "Quite the Character" Scarecrow, "Traditional/Whirligig Scarecrow," "Kids Only! Scarecrow, and the People's Choice Scarecrow.
To enter, complete this registration form and return it to the Tourism Office with a $10 entry fee. Select your group of friends or volunteers, or do it yourself, but let your imagination go wild! Entry forms are also available at the Tourism Office, 80 North Avenue, Owego or by calling 607-687-7440 or email info@visittioga.com. The deadline to create and enter the competition is October 1.
The scarecrows will be on display throughout the Owego retail district from October 8-November 5.
