Outspoken is delighted to bring Dr Norman Swan to Maleny for a conversation about his new book,
So You Want to Live Younger Longer?

The Health Report while also reporting on
7.30 and several other ABC programs. In addition to being an active journalist and health broadcaster, Dr Swan has a deep strategic knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and is committed to evidence-based approaches to help young people, which is why he sits on the board of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth.

Many of us dream of staying as young as possible as long as possible, whether we're in our 40s, 70s or 80s, and there's a growing conga line of products and people offering to help with that. The dilemma is, which of the pills, mental and physical exercise programs, diets and superfoods actually work? Some of them
do help to keep us young, healthy and living longer, others may work when the researchers get the portions right. Some are a downright waste of money. So how do we know what and who to trust? These are the questions Dr Norman Swan tackles - with his usual wit and insight - in
So You Want to Live Younger Longer?
Dr Swan brings together what's known, not known, hopeful but not harmful and harmful and not hopeful, summarised with quick takeaway messages backed up by the science and evidence.

If You’re Happy, won the Glendower Award for an Emerging Queensland Writer at the 2020 Queensland Literary Awards. Fiona lives in Brisbane with her husband and children.
‘Mapping a terrain of loneliness, compromise, ageing and tension, these short, sharp pieces create pockets of surprise and solace in unexpected places…’

Now, we don't normally do this,
but we thought you might be interested!
Maleny Arts Council are bringing the Critical Stages production of
Joan Didion's
The Year of Magical Thining
to Maleny
Tuesday, July 12, 7pm
Maleny Community Centre
Joan Didion was one of the most celebrated writers of her generation.
Her book
The Year of Magical Thinking was a highly personal account of loss, written after the death of her husband, John Gregory Dunne, and then, not much later, of her daughter, Quintana. It was an incredibly moving, ground-breaking memoir which was published to an extraordinary response, seeming to touch a nerve in our collective psyche.
Didion later adapted it for the stage as a one-woman show,
starring, in New York, Vanessa Redgrave.
This version, staged by Critical Stages, stars stars the award-winning Jillian Murray
it really is not to be missed.
