Many people with disabilities are recipients of SSI or Social Security Income. Currently, there is an income limit to how much a person is allowed to earn before they are cut off from Social Security and the attached health insurance. The limit nationally is $2000/month including the benefits received from Social Security. This keeps people with Disabilities from earning a decent living and providing for themselves (just look at the current rentals near you if this seems like a lot).
There is legislation out there to change this. I was just on a zoom about Disabilities in the Jewish community. The situation is not just relating to Jews, but to our entire nation.

Go to the site and write to your local and national representatives to give this topic the attention it deserves.
As a nonprofit and employer of people with Special Needs/Disabilities and mother of a young man with Down Syndrome, this is very important to me.
