It's quite clear, that we live in a world where countries have less of a democratic setup, but instead a capitalist government. Doesn't matter if you are residing in a 3rd world country or a well-developed nation. This is what the government and the bureaucracy are headed to. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a newsletter with anti-government propaganda. I have no business talking negatively about the government or the society we live in. Then you might ask "How is this relevant to Mental health?", a good question. Look at all of this from a 3rd person perspective, isn't it quite clear that the baseline for a global mental health crisis is the insecurity that the capitalist form of government and society imparts? Of course, it is. We are all under a constant feeling of being "left out" or "missing out" on important things because our circle and society add some false value to it. It may be partying, having a lot of friends, having a sculpted physique, and so on. Don't get me wrong, having any of these isn't a bad thing, but radicalizing our mindset to chase them just to "fit in" is the reason why nearly 5 out of every 10 people deal with major depression. Then there are large conglomerates always advertising their product and making us hop onto a non-stop treadmill, where we continuously chase the feeling of not being left out. Well at this node you might ask "Why are you telling me all this?", another good question. I suppose you might have heard the story of the four frogs who boiled to death cause they failed to realize the gradually increasing temperature of the water. Exactly! Only when we are aware of our problem can we find a fix to it. No no, I am not telling you that the society or the government is at fault. They might be but that is a subjective and a fool's argument. Instead, now that we are aware of our situation and the problem, we can find a fix to it. This, Exactly is what I plan to achieve through this periodic newsletter. If you are someone who struggles with their mental health like I did, or you have a loved one who finds themselves with a trash mental health. This newsletter is for you. Wishing you good mental health! I will catch you in the next one. :) |
