Some areas of life could be overlooked during a Pleasure Review because they may not present as areas where pleasure can or "should" exist.
The workplace is an area in which pleasure is often sidelined. I previously had a job that was a 4 or 5 if I only considered the situation as it was at the time, which provided competitive pay, a wonderful direct supervisor, and job security. However, I imagined a vocation where my standards for work-life balance and stress management were also met - one that aligned with my pursuit of pleasure. It then became possible to take the leap away from a more familiar career and craft a pleasurable work life.
Food has been a source of pleasure for me, but meal planning and preparation was not. One of the treasures I brought home from my time away in March is the Thermomix® TM6. I cannot hire a personal chef or a butler, but I deserve the pleasure of nutritious, time-efficient, delicious meals. Now I am a Thermomix® Independent Consultant because although Oprah and Whoopi have endorsed this kitchen robot no one in my Black and thriving community seemed to have had access to this innovation.
Speaking of community, let's talk about chores. Cleaning the house, meaning everything from mopping to ironing, has been a major obstacle to my pursuit of pleasure since I was a child. I am grateful for having loving reminders that I do not have to do everything myself, and I have released a lot of shame around outsourcing chores. I view my income as a resource for my pursuit of pleasure, however a monthly cleaning service is also accessible through trading services with my community members.
There are many other commonly overlooked areas that y'all could bring to my awareness, so I would love to hear about your Pleasure Reviews!
