Protect Your Data from Ransomware with QNAP NAS
Locker is a file-encrypting ransomware (Cryptolocker, CTB Locker, TeslaCrypt, and others) that encrypts files found on local drives, removable drives, mapped network drives, and even Dropbox mappings. Victims will be extorted to pay a ransom to decrypt the affected files, or they will be unable to open the encrypted files ever again. QNAP NAS provides a simple solution for backing up/restoring files and data. Its Linux-based operating system, QTS, makes it more secure than Windows systems, which are more at risk of being attacked. Moreover, the copy-on-write snapshots make QNAP NAS a reliable backup solution for reacting quickly to backup and restore important files and system data.

Always Backup Your Precious Files
A sound backup strategy requires you to make at least two copies of your data, and keep at least one of which is stored offsite. A best practice of this is to store the original copy/data on your computer, and also keep a copy on your NAS with RAID. No matter what system you are using, Mac, Windows, Linux, always use the proper tools from QNAP, such as NetBak Replicator, Apple Time Machine, or rsync, to backup your files to QNAP NAS.
Schedule Snapshot on a Regular Basis
Snapshots allow your QNAP NAS to record the state of the system at any time. If an unexpected situation arises on your system, you can revert back to a previous state that the snapshot has recorded. The Storage Manager adds an easy-to- use web-based snapshot tool for you to easily back up and restore data back to any point of time to prevent loss of important data.
