Personally I am working through piles of things on my desk. One would think that three months of closure from March to June (I was still here every day as usual) would help me catch up on all manner of things, but it seems to have done the opposite. Finances became the main focus, replacing a chunk of the daily routine. Much time went into pursuing alternative funding sources, grant writing, the SBA loan application, etc., together with follow up paperwork for all of the above; and I now find myself working overtime to catch up with “normal” duties - and yet more fundraising. Consequently a few things have been sitting on the back burner. For example, I promise that we’ll have a newsletter soon.
For anyone who has postponed a visit to see our current exhibition, take heart. The SIGNATURE WORKS coverlets will be on display until at least next April.
This exhibition is unique, as it is comprised of 94 coverlets from a donation of 154, all
from the same collection. The donor, Jude Fera, is a New Englander who has a wonderful eye for good stuff, both geometric and figured, including several rare initialed and dated overshot coverlets. Catalogs are available now, as are catalogs for most of our past exhibitions. Read more about them on our website at www.coverletmuseum.org.
There is more to talk about, but I will leave that for our newsletter. Given the rise in positive COVID tests everywhere, we have no idea how long this challenge will go on, but I/we will continue to be here daily. We hope for the best.
This is a difficult time for everyone.
Please, if you can, make a contribution to help keep the coverlet museum viable. As you know so well in your own life, the bills never seem to end. In our case they come whether we’re open to the public or not, and we urgently need your help if we are to survive this crazy situation.
This year has certainly been interesting – many of us can’t wait to see it over and done!
In the meantime, however, with all our hearts we wish you a decent Christmas/Holiday Season (all things considered). Stay home, stay safe, and hold your loved ones close. We look forward to a more promising 2021 and we hope to see you again -- not soon enough!!
Best wishes to you and yours, and thank you again for all that you do to support this museum.
