Attention Planners & Planning Supporters: You Are Affected by This!
Though not a planning topic per se, planners are affected by this in one way or another.
A significant change has occurred in use of the Internet, whether for having your own Website or doing online work of any kind – e.g., research, conducting surveys, public outreach, and a host of other functions. The change relates to Internet security.
You may have seen warnings at the top of Web pages that you visit saying: “This Site Is Not Secure”. The warnings even appear on government Websites and we’ve noticed them on major planning sites.
Google has implemented the change and certain other search engines are joining in. Google has said that in the next couple of months the warnings will get much stronger and more conspicuous. in addition to problem sites, such warnings are appearing on sites that actually are secure. They can be a big deterrent to visitors who will be afraid to open the Websites, if they aren’t already from the current warnings.
An article explaining what’s going on is here: .
https://www.thevirtualsolutionscenter.com/blog.html.They’re not selling anything and they do provide solutions for how to get rid of the warnings and other consequences.
The Internet era has many benefits but there are also significant risks. Keep your company, agency or other organization safe and visible on the Internet!
More to Come!
