FOKUS would like to thank Myrtle Avenue Business Partnership, Ingersoll Community Center and all of the families that attended StoryTime Art: Sofie & The City. You can view the photo recap here or on our Facebook page (feel free to Like Us while you are there).
We had a great turnout and were able to provide sensory connections to homes in India, Russia, The West Indies, Mexico and Senegal. All attendees drew their own home and things that brought them happiness when thinking about home.
Our next event is Feb 21st: "The Impact of the African Diaspora on Fashion" - stay tuned for the announcement!
FOKUS is presenting these events in conjunction with the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership's Black Artstory Month: Native Sons and Daughters brings together stories of travel, of exploring identities, of seeking to establish roots and of pursuing ownership of a space and place. While the primary focus is on the African American experiences, these journeys and pursuits are universal—crossing cultural and racial lines.
