I'll be wearing another hat on Saturday, September 16, while welcoming you to the 24th Ojai Bowlful of Blues, a benefit for Community Advocacy Coalition of Ventura County and RhythmOfTheCoast.com. Proceeds also provide musical instruments and education for local youth.
The music and venue are world class. Headliners Nathan & the Zydeco Cha-Chas will fly in direct from Lafayette, LA. There will be food trucks, beer and wine, and vendors, too. See you there?

Fall Equinox Nature Hike on Pine Mountain
As the 41st year of Herb Walks winds down, I will lead my 5 th annual Fall Equinox Nature Hike in the peaceful Mixed Conifer Forest on Pine Mountain (elevation: 7000 feet) at the time of year when the pine nuts are dropping.
I promise that first time visitors to this area will be surprised and delighted to find a thick forest of pine, fir and cedar so close to the Ventura coast. Not to mention the views! On a clear day you can see 5 Channel Islands. You'll feel "on top of the world."

This is so cool! This condor nest, known as the Devils Gate nest, is located in the Los Padres National Forest, near Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge.
The California Condor cam is a collaboration between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. |

Another chance to learn from Dr. James Adams
Please join me and special guest Dr. James Adams of USC School of Pharmacy for our annual Fall Medicinal Plant Workshop on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. Adams has been a frequent and popular contributor to my events for the past five years. This workshop is based on his ground-breaking pharmacological studies on local native plants. All his workshops here have filled up so, as the saying goes, he’s “back by popular demand.”
