From Page to Screen
with Macmillian Publishing's
Brendan Deneen
Executive Editor, Macmillan Entertainment
November 9, 2014, 2-4 PM
MONDO, 426 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ |
Ever wonder how a book becomes a motion picture or television series? Executive book editor, film/television producer and author Brendan Deneen knows the answers. As head of Macmillan Entertainment, the book-to-film division of Macmillan Publishing, he's made sheparding books to screen - and the other way around - his career.
From working for unique personalities like Harvey Weinstein and Scott Rudin to developing ideas from scratch and turning them, not only into novels, but also feature films and TV shows, Brendan will tell us how books are acquired by major publishing companies, and then optioned and adapted by Hollywood.
Brendan brings a comprehensive perspective to his workshop, having worked as an agent, an editor, and a development and production movie executive. His expertise includes working at the William Morris Agency, Scott Rudin Productions, Miramax Films, Dimension Films, The Weinstein Company, and at Macmillan Publishers, as well as his work as a novelist and comic book writer.
