Congratulations to local Troop 26's Eagle Scouts!
Last Monday, Troop 26 held a ceremony to recognize EIGHT Eagle Scouts. Eagle is the highest Boy Scout rank and only 5% of all Boy Scouts achieve this rank. It represents years of work advancing through 6 junior ranks, earning at least 21 Merit badges (many scouts earn more), gaining leadership skills and volunteering countless hours of community service. Indeed, you probably met these Scouts at many Town Square programs, volunteering their services.
Troop 26's eight Eagle Scouts are all from Williamsburg and Greenpoint:

- David N. Silva Jr.
- Angelo Manatu
- Kyle Raymond Paneto
- Mario Xavier Aguila
- Ryan Downey-Lugo
- Jeissefer Morales
NYS Senator Martin Dilan, NYC Councilmember Stephen Levin and Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez's office came to honor the Scouts. US Senator Chuck Schumer, US Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, US Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, NYS Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, NYS Assemblywoman Martiza Davila and NYC Councilmember Antonio Reynoso were some of the many who provided citations. It was a proud day at the W-Loft in Williamsburg.
The Greenpoint Star ran a wonderful
front page article and an
interview of Eagle Scout Ryan Downey-Lugo. They are all fine examples of our local youth and what they can gain through Scouting. Town Square is a proud sponsor of Troop 26 (and their little brother Pack 7)!

Schoolfest 2017

Schoolfest 2017 is one-of-a-kind school fair for North Brooklyn families. Parents and students are invited to meet all types of schools and enrichment services. So far, +60 schools (day care through high school) and another +30 enrichment/resource providers are joining us.
Did you know that there's a new local German dual language program? In a public elementary school? How about French, Japanese, Mandarin, Polish, Spanish? Did you know that there's a national chess championship team at a local public middle school? And they're now a Brooklyn-wide gifted program? How about amazing art, music and STEM schools?

Greenpoint Children's Annual Halloween Parade, Spooktacular Party & Zombie Nerf War

12 Noon ~ Halloween Costumed Parade
1 PM ~ Spooktacular Party
4 PM ~ Zombie Nerf War

Calling all goblins and witches, princes and princesses, super heroes and villains! The 14th Annual Greenpoint Children's Halloween Parade, Spooktacular Party & Zombie Nerf War is on Sunday, October 29, 2017. The costume Halloween Parade assembles at 11:30 AM on Java Street between Manhattan Avenue & McGuinness Blvd. At 12 Noon, we'll march down Manhattan Avenue to Norman Avenue, and loop back to Java for the Spooktacular Party. Afterwards, there'll be an epic Zombie Nerf War for older kids!
Parade is FREE to join! $15 each online for the Spooktacular Party and Zombie Nerf War, $20 at door ($25 combo ticket online, $30 at door). Arts & crafts, games, contests, a bouncy house for little ones, nerf gun battles for older kids and so much more! Buy your tickets now and save!
Proceeds benefit Town Square & local Boy Scout Troop 26 (camping, fishing, paint ball, archery, rock climbing walls , orienteering, horse back riding and of-course, haunted house excursions and other Halloween festivities).
