This month, as always, we take a look at the hard work that our community puts into bettering the environment. But we also shine a spotlight on the exciting times when we can celebrate the good that we have done! As we move closer to spring, we look forward to the warmer months when we know our eco-efforts will kick into high gear. Take a look at all the good the community is doing despite any the weather!

Good.Clean.Fun. In McCarren Park!
Good.Clean.Fun. was invited by Open Space Alliance to co-sponsor a community-based clean-up and leaf raking day on Saturday, January 28th. As the winter season treks on, it is important to make sure that leaf coverage stays to a minimum in order for the ground and grass to flourish come winter. Good.Clean.Fun. came to the rescue….

President’s Environmental Youth Award
Your project – or one you are sponsoring – could be an award winner. Apply or encourage a student you know to apply for PEYA and see what a difference they can make for the environment with an award-winning project. Applicants from all 50 states and U.S. territories are eligible to compete for a regional certificate of special recognition and a national Presidential award.Applications are now being accepted for the PEYA program. L Train Workshops
The MTA is conducting public workshops in affected communities and invite your participation. Last summer, the MTA announced the decision to close the L tunnel for 18 months beginning in 2019 so that they can address as quickly and efficiently as possible, the critical work needed in the tunnel’s two tubes. This decision was reached after a robust public outreach process with the community.
