Hello Go Greeners,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July last week. We had a blast with the gorgeous weather, backyard BBQs and an amazing view of the Macy fireworks over the East River.
Town Square's SummerStarz free outdoor movie series kicked off last week in Transmitter Park. This is just one of many fantastic outdoor movie series in our neighborhood. In fact, you can catch eco-documentary,
Divide in Concord, at 61 Franklin Street Community Garden this evening and family favorite,
Inside Out, at Transmitter Park tomorrow. We have put together a full list in this week's feature article, Outdoor Summer Movies.
The week ahead is full of wonderful events. Learn about street tree care and composting with Trees NY and DSNY in Greenpoint this afternoon and mingle with friends at a Newtown Creek Alliance mixer tonight. This weekend's highlights include Greenthumb's Open Garden Day, their 40th Anniversary celebration, and the Waterfront Alliance's City of Water Day, a free family festival in the Seaport District in Manhattan. Along with music, theater, food and other activities, the City of Water Day includes free harbor boat tours with Hornblower, the Pioneer Schooner, the Kingston Yacht, a NYC Audubon eco-cruise on the Circle Line, a fireboat ride on John J. Harvey, a tour of the Gowanus Bay and a tour of Newtown Creek with Newtown Creek Alliance's Mitch Waxman and Willis Elkins. Reservations are required and spots are limited, so hurry!
