RETROTOURS NEWSLETTER: NOVEMBER 2014
The final tour of 2014 was October 18-19. Five of us rode down to Chincoteague, VA on 500cc bikes: Suzuki T500, Honda CX500, Honda CB500T, Moto Morini 500 and Triumph T100C. The round trip covered nearly 500 miles in two glorious days and included a tour of the Wallops NASA Launch facility. I would return a week later to see the fateful missile launch that ended after 12 seconds in a huge explosion. Luckily our twin cylinder engines held up much better: we had zero mechanical issues. It was a great ride and I can hardly wait for the 2015 season!
Meanwhile, back at home we’ve had a taste of winter already and while things are warming up at the moment, tomorrow looks to be the last warm day of the year. Best of luck to my hardy friends in the Buffalo area where as much as 7 feet of snow is on the ground. Here, the firewood is split and stacked, the winter shop projects are well under way and I’m ready to hole up for the winter. Are you?
Short days, cold temperatures and drifting snow with freezing rain are hard to take but somehow we manage to get through it, buoyed by the expectation of springtime renewal: delicious sunshine, longer warmer days, great riding ahead! The best remedy for lack of riding time is planning to ride.
With that thought in mind please go to www.retrotours.com or visit us on Facebook (and ‘like’ us, please). The schedule for 2015 is posted and there are 15 rides listed. Detailed descriptions of each ride will follow in the next few weeks but you can consult your calendar and set aside some time for yourself. Please remember that custom rides can be planned to suit your schedule, whatever that may be. I am open to all suggestions and will do my best to accommodate your desires. Just tell me what you want. (There are two “Couples Tours” in 2015 so if your wife or significant other has ‘got game’ maybe she would like to be involved.)
Or…maybe your wife or someone else in the family wants to give you something really special this year for Christmas, for your birthday or whatever.
Why not make it easy for them? Just print out the following page and leave it in a conspicuous place. WIN/ WIN!
We like to keep the groups small so certain rides will sell out early. A $50 deposit will reserve your seat and may be applied to any future ride that is not sold out should you need to cancel.
A RETROTOUR MAKES A FANTASTIC GIFT. IT’S TRUE.
Old motorcycles are fun!
RIDING old motorcycles brings you back to a place that’s a bit slower and simpler and RetroTours can take you there. We’ll tend to all the details. You just show up, ride, and get that feeling! Roll back the years. Revisit your youth. Discover what motorcycling once was.
