Updates for Belize and Brazil
| I am finishing up a Belize tour story right now, but we've added a review of the impressive Machacha Hill Rainforest Lodge in Punta Gorda. We've also updated our reviews of the Francis Ford Coppola hotels Blancaneux and Turtle Inn because both have added some new villas and public areas, including a nice swimming pool at Blancaneux. See all of them in our Luxury Belize Hotels section.
One of our correspondents just returned from Brazil and another one is there right now. We've just posted a review of the luxury retreat Ponta dos Ganchos and have a northern Brazil beaches real estate feature going up shortly. In a month or so we'll have new hotel reviews for the Bahia region. See the Luxury Travel in Brazil section for more.

What's New in Latin America?
| * The Economist notes that vegetarianism is spreading in Argentina, with per capita beef consumption down from 68 kilos last year to 57 this year. That still makes them the top beef eaters by far though: 2nd-place Uruguay only downs 41 kilos a year.
* Companies active in Latin America dominated the annual World Savers awards published in this month's Conde Nast Travel. See this blog post for the rundown on The Haciendas, Lapas Rios, Grano de Oro, NatureAir, Ecoventura, and more.
* Things are still in limbo politically in Honduras. The EU and US have cut off some aid, but the IMF has made up for much of it. Meanwhile, travel remains unaffected by the wrangling and future election negotiations.
*Hurricane Jimena petered out before causing much damage in Los Cabos. There was a bit of flooding on the Peninsula but hotels are reporting only minor damage, some of them completely unscathed. And...the deals there continue to be amazing. This is a great time to go.
