The May issue of Perceptive Travel is out and it's full of great stuff.
This time we go cow tipping, um, I mean cow fighting in the Italian Alps. We sail up the frigid coast of Norway on a commuter ship. We check into xanas and matriarchal villages in Spain. Then we get out of Europe and hit see the coast of Canada's BC state with the First Nations people.
And as usual, reviews of some noteworthy world music albums, plus a couple of travel books. See the current issue page.

We Place 3 Stories in Best Travel Writing We're plumb swelled up with pride saying that three of the stories in the new Best Travel Writing 2009 book appeared first in Perceptive Travel. Congrats to Chris Epting, David Farley, and Stephanie Elizondo Griest. Plus former contributors Rolf Potts and Tony Perrottet appear withing the pages as well. See the links to the stories on this month's home page.

Win an Eco-friendly Bag From Keen! Congrats to Todd G. of Ohio who won the sleek Casio Exilim Z80 camera we gave away in April. Thanks to everyone who entered--keep trying and you'll probably score eventually.
This month's prize is a Harvest Grand Bag from Keen. See the home page for a link to a review (and another photo) on the Practical Travel Gear blog. It's made from rice paper bags and brown paper, so a second life for things that would have gone in a landfill. Quite the conversation piece.
To enter, send answers to these questions and your snail mail address to editor (at) perceptivetravel.com or reply to this newsletter. (Hint--all answers are in the current issue and your odds are probably better than you think...)
1) What Skill is Bill Reid known for? 2) What's the name of the stadium where the Battle of the Queens takes place? 3) What are xanas?
