Pirate Chic and Cocktails! The June issue of Perceptive Travel is up now so go check it out.
Chris Epting returns to give us a rundown on historic places to tip a glass and the birthplaces of the Martini and Mai Tai. Bruce Northam heads to Honduras and feels a kinship with the "pirate chic" style. Luke Armstrong pens his second story for us, with a tale of a drunk backpacker clashing with a drunk revolutionary in Nicaragua.
I spin some tunes for the world music section, moving from England to Gambia to Italy to Guatemala, Havana, and the 'hood. See the current issue page.

New Site Design on the Way Next month when you tune in you'll be looking at a whole new page design for Perceptive Travel. When you hear that from a magazine editor you usually go "uh-oh," but I promise you'll find it cleaner and more contemporary, with no additional annoyances on the ad side. We'll start rolling it out as soon as this week, on the main navigation pages anyway.

Win a Europe Book and a Journal Congrats to Kim Sanders of Pennsylvania who won the cool Keen Harvest Grand bag made from recycled materials. Thanks to everyone who entered--keep trying and you'll probably score eventually as the odds are pretty sweet.
This month's prize is a matching pair of books from Avalon Publishing: Rick Steve's Best of Europe 2009 and an accompanying travel journal from the same series. We're giving away two copies of each. See the home page for a link to more info.
To enter, send answers to these questions and your snail mail address to editor (at) perceptivetravel.com or reply to this newsletter. (Hint--all answers are in the current issue's stories and reviews.)
1) What is the name of the town where the Martini was first served? 2) Where did the Garifuna people live before coming to Honduras? 3) Who does Justin Adams usually perform with?
