This half-day hands-on interactive case-based workshop will feature a panel of experts in the areas of clinical medicine, palliative care, medical ethics, medicolegal and regulatory to examine the state of Physician Assisted Death in Canada and how Physicians working in hospitals will be able to make decisions and help establish appropriate systems to address patient end-of-life concerns in the hospital inpatient setting. By participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the current principles and legislation with respect to Physician-Assisted Death in Canada.
- Examine and discuss provincial approaches by regulatory professional colleges.
- Identify resources available to support physicians in the setting of questions from patients and families regarding Physician-Assisted Death.
- Encourage teams to establish systems to address requests for Physician-Assisted Death.
