Dear Friend,
In March of 2010 the House of Commons adopted M-505, which stated, “That this House acknowledge the actions of Saddam Hussein against the Kurdish people in Iraq including the poison gas attack against Halabja on March 16, 1988, the destruction of Iraqi Kurdish villages and the systematic persecution of Kurds in Iraq and condemn these acts as crimes against humanity. “
I was proud to have played a significant role in that momentous occasion.
After 25 years in the House of Commons I have decided to stay closer to my family in Toronto and I will be running for municipal council in the City if Toronto Ward 39.
I have joined G20HumanRights as their executive director.
The Mission of G20HumanRights is:
“To foster an international grassroots campaign with respect to the unfair and unjust treatment of ethnic communities and religious minorities in different parts of the world.”
I am now writing to ask you to join me in asking that the International Community recognize Kurdistan as an independent country immediately.
The Kurdish nation was divided in five sections, between Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey at the end of the First World War.
Today Iraq is falling apart it is time that Kurdistan be recognized as an independent country
