Audition sign-ups for
The Addams Family, the funniest junior production of the season, are now live! Open auditions will take place on Sunday, November 12 (between 6:30pm - 9:30pm) and Monday, November 13 (between 6:00pm - 10:00pm) at the Sunnyvale Theatre (550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94087). You must reserve an audition slot on SignupGenius in order to participate in this production. Walk-ins may be taken on a first-come-first-served basis but are not guaranteed. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled audition appointment.
What do you need to do to sign up? It's easy:
Audition Preparation:
Prepare 1 minute of a song to sing for your vocal audition. A piano accompanist will be provided. You are
strongly encouraged to bring sheet music and sing to the piano accompaniment as this is the process of a professional musical theatre audition. However, if you are unable to acquire sheet music, you may bring an instrumental/karaoke track on an MP3 player or CD and we will provide a sound system to play your music. If your music is on an MP3 player (such as a smart phone), it is important for you to know that there is
not reliable Wi-Fi at the theater, and therefore, you must have the song downloaded to your device player to successfully play it at auditions. Streaming the music from the Internet will
not work. In addition, you must have your song pulled up on your player with your phone case removed and lock screen turned off before entering the audition room.
You will
not need to prepare a monologue for these auditions.
Character descriptions and production information is provided below and
on our website. More information about auditions and how best to prepare will be provided to you during your online registration process. Be sure to sign up early because audition slots will go quickly for this highly-anticipated production!

About
The Addams Family
America’s favorite family comes to devilishly delightful life in
The Addams Family. Our annual Junior Production presents the macabre new musical comedy, created by the authors of
Jersey Boys and
The Wild Party. This creepy, cooky, and all-together spooky stage production features an original story and score. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a nice, respectable family. The Addams’ bonds are put to the test as they meet the boyfriend’s “normal” family. This show proves that a family who acts weird together, stays together. Come meet the family. We’ll leave the lights off for you.

Character Descriptions
Gomez Addams, Tenor (Bb2 – G4): A man of Spanish descent who adores his wife, takes great pride in his children, and is immensely proud to be an Addams; caught between his daughter and his wife he feels completely trapped and unable to make either happy, which is his greatest joy; must have great comedic timing, move well, and strong vocals.
Morticia Addams, Alto/Mezzo Sop. (G3 – Bb5): The real head of the family and the critical and moving force behind it; comedic actress with a sassy, dry wit; feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the secret out; a strong dancer.
Uncle Fester, Tenor (C3 – C5): Serves as the musical’s narrator; playful and child-like, hugely enthusiastic and totally unshakeable; a vaudevillian, needs strong comedy and tenor vocals.
Wednesday Addams, Pop voice with belt (A3 – E5): Gothic teen with a dry sense of humor; just wants her family to be “normal” for one night to meet the parents of the boy she’s fallen in love with; strong pop belt vocals.
Pugsley Addams, Tenor (A2-F4): A charming, funny, “tween”-aged boy who loves being tortured by his sister; he wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands; strong, high vocals.
Grandma, Character vocals (G4 – F5): A feisty 102-year-old woman; fun and quirky, but don’t mess with Grandma; comedic actress with strong character vocals.
Lurch, Bass (Eb2-E4): Ideally tall; a man of very few words, often spoken at half speed; most of what he utters is long, plaintive groans, some tinged with irony or exasperation. A great character part!
Lucas Beineke, Pop Tenor (C3-C5): Young man who has fallen in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her; experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family.
Mal Beineke, bari-tenor (C3-A4): Father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice; thinks the Addams family is beyond strange and does not want to spend time having dinner with them, much less be related.
Alice Beineke, soprano/high belt (Ab3- G#5): Mother of Lucas, seemingly mousy (but secretly the opposite!); devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires; while at the Addams’ family dinner party, she drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her truth; very strong comedic singer/actress.
Ancestors, All Voice Types and Ages: A spooky and altogether kooky collection of characters from a whole bunch of different historical time periods and backgrounds; an integral and crucially important part of the entire show, singing and dancing up a storm, and having a silly good time! This group of wacky characters will be featured throughout the show. Each ancestor will have their own distinct character and name!
Pet Monsters, All Voice Types and Ages: As if the ancestors weren’t zany enough, this show will also feature a number of hilarious monsters populating the Addams estate! These characters will also have no shortage of singing and dancing opportunities and moments to shine!
