Ryan Gosling, Billie Eilish, and Jon Batiste are set to perform at the Oscars. The Oscars just got an infusion of Kenergy. Ryan Gosling will sing the pop power ballad "I'm Just Ken" at the show on March 10, the show's producers announced Wednesday. Others set to perform their nominated original songs include Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell, Jon Batiste, Scott George, and the Osage Singers, and Becky G. Gosling is also nominated for the best-supporting actor that evening. While in character as Ken in a promo for the show with Jimmy Kimmel, he shrugged that he's not going to win. In fairness, even if it was a joke, he might not be wrong: His fellow nominee Robert Downey Jr. has been sweeping the season. The other nominated songs include Diane Warren's "The Fire Inside," from "Flamin' Hot," Jon Batiste and Dan Wilson's "It Never Went Away" from "American Symphony," and Scott George's "Wahzhazhe" from "Killers of the Flower Moon." The 96th Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 10 with the show beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.

Humidor auction in Cuba, money for health. The traditional humidor auction as part of the 24th edition of the Habano Festival raised a record number of 17.8 million Euros to be donated to the Cuban Public Health System. The auction took place last night at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana during the gala dinner that closed the Festival and was attended by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero. Considered one of the most important moments of each Festival, the auction was organized by the Habanos S.A. Corporation and is a show of generosity and humanity of those in love with the best tobacco in the world, the Habano. This year's auctioned humidors are a tribute to the world's most renowned cigar brands, as well as to those that are celebrating their anniversaries, as is the case of Trinidad, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary.

Caribbean and Central American nations looking to reach their first-ever FIFA World Cup. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, three of the powerhouses of the region have already qualified as hosts. It's never easy to make soccer predictions but we might be about to see a new Caribbean or Central American country make history. CONCACAF, the Football Federation of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, along with its qualification for the World Cup, is usually dominated by three big hitters who will not feature this time around - Canada, the US, and Mexico. Canada is somewhat new to the big stage, having qualified for just the second time in 2022, but with the talent they are producing of late, they are expected to become a semi-permanent fixture in the years to come. Meanwhile, Mexico and the United States are far and away the most successful teams from the region in terms of qualifying. With the US and Mexico in particular out of the picture, there is a real opportunity for some of the lesser-known teams in CONCACAF to stake their claim and reach their first FIFA World Cup.

Rafa Nadal transmits calm about his physical condition. Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal conveyed calm today to his fans regarding his physical condition, something that worried his followers after the match against Jordan Thompson, in the ATP 250 category event being held in this city. "The discomfort is in the same place as the previous injury," explained the legendary player, "but I think it is due to fatigue," he added, to allay concerns about a possible relapse. The considered best clay court player on the planet beat Thompson in a demanding duel that lasted more than three hours and where he defeated him 5-7, 7-6, and 6-3, which is why he considers that the discomfort that he reports is associated with physical exhaustion. Nadal retired from top competition last May to undergo long-term treatment that would allow him to return in 2024 from the start and in the best possible shape.

Former Brazil footballer Dani Alves was found guilty of a 2022 nightclub assault in the Catalan capital. Brazilian footballer Dani Alves has been found guilty and sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022. The top court in Spain's Catalonia region on Thursday also ordered Alves, who had maintained throughout that the sex was consensual, to pay 150,000 euros ($163,000) to the victim. "The sentence considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the plaintiff, to consider the rape proven," the Provincial Court of Barcelona said in a statement. The prosecutor had sought a nine-year prison term for Alves. The verdict may be appealed. The 40-year-old former Barcelona defender was arrested in January last year and has been held on remand since then. The case has attracted significant attention not only because of Alves's profile but also because gender violence has become an increasingly dominant topic in Spain's public discourse.
