Fall Focus - Week 2
|
We had such a good start to our Fall Focus this past Sunday. Despite the holiday weekend, we had more attend our 9:00 a.m. breakfast than ever before. I enjoyed coming early to help the Sunday school class I attend cook and serve the breakfast. It was fun just to be with everyone.
I liked having the children with us for breakfast, but I also enjoyed having all of the adults and youth together for the Sunday school hour. The opening worship song was especially meaningful to me, and then when EB sang, I could sense the Lord moving across our group.
Dr. Ashlock told me afterward that he loves being with you, because you always make he and Shawna feel at home. I don't know about you, but I learned a lot about the beatitudes when he taught. The response to the morning worship time was strong. Several were rededicating their lives to God, and one man accepted Christ as His Savior.
I appreciate so much how you have prayed for our time together over these next few weeks. Please don't stop. It was also beautiful to see the breakfast filled with visitors, because so many of you had invited someone to join you. Debbie and I are making personal invitations again this week to various people.
I hope you will too. I believe these are important days in the life of our church.
I am praying with you and for you during these busy days. Thank you for all you do to support us and our church.
See you Sunday,
Jim Burgin, pastor

Scripture Memory 2 |
Our Scripture for Week Two
To the right, you will find an image of our text for this Sunday: Galatians 2:20-21.
I have already downloaded it to my smart phone, using it as my wallpaper and lock screen.
In this way, I see it all day long, and it helps me to memorize it. I hope it helps you too.
In your bulletin this week, you will be reminded about the Scripture Typer App, which you can download to your phone for free.
Remember our Scripture from last week - Psalm 1 - "Blessed is the one who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers, but his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and in His law he medicates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of wather which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."

Would you come to Breakfast?
Our breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. in the Lockwood Center gym. The ladies class, led by Debbie Burgin, will be cooking up something pretty nice this Sunday. Please make every effort to be there.
Also, why don't you invite someone to come with you? You'd be surprised how many people came to church simply because someone asked them to. If they don't come, that's ok. At least you asked. You might just be the spark someone needs to get started., or to come back home to the Lord this week.

Why do you believe that?
Our Ladies' Bible study starts again tomorrow. As in the past, there will be two times each week that ladies' can study God's word together.
These studies take place in the Lockwood Center: 1) Saturday morning: 10 - 12, and Monday night: 6:30 - 8:30. The video teaching this time comes from Mary Joe Sharp, and the title of the series is "Why do you believe that? Please contact Debbie Burgin if you haven't signed up, but would still like to come. You can reach her at 817-704-6144.
Come enjoy studying God's Word together.
