A “jamboree” is a large celebration or party, typically a lavish and boisterous one. This year’s Jamboree Day’s theme is “Freedom Rings in Crestline.” Why not enjoy Jamboree Days in Crestline while buying soft sheets?
Crestline is a town, nestled in the mountains near Lake Arrowhead. In 1906, a group of San Bernardino investors bought 630 acres for $11,000. Henry Guernsey, one of them, said, “Here on the summit of the range, far above the heat of the Valley, a summer colony will be established, which shall be a veritable summer city among the pines.” Guernsey laid out streets, sunk wells, put in water mains and built a house for himself. A former Keystone Cops series writer, S.W. Dillin, came to Crestline to help his asthma, and created the Crestline Tavern, and became the first Postmaster. Crestline grew from there, and this is the 53rd year they have been celebrating the 4th of July with a parade and fireworks.
On Saturday (4th of July weekend) June 30, 2018, the day kicks off with the annual Jamboree Days parade at 10 a.m. The parade route, flanked by pine trees, will begin in Top Town Crestline (along Crest Forest Dr.) and head down Fern to Lake Dr. towards the Lake. Enjoy a full day of activities throughout town, including local shopping and dining. Hop on one of the free shuttles to check out all the fun from Lake Dr. to Top Town, and also from Forest Shade to Lake Gregory.
Be sure to visit the Artisan Market on Lake Dr. featuring a variety of unique art and handcrafted goods, along with Da Sheets Lady soft sheet sets (in a booth that also carries fun, American-made women’s apparel.) June 30th, from 10:30am to 5pm.
Food, drinks and fun activities for all ages. Meet Smokey Bear, the Sheriff, the Fire Dept, hear live music featuring Juliet Roberts and Whiskey Sunday, and enter the Raffle. The Fun Zone hosted by Boy & Girl Scouts and high school students includes a Nerf War and carnival games. End off the day with fireworks over the lake, launched at 9pm off of the Lake Gregory Boat Dock.
When you purchase the Crestline local discount card, not only are you getting great deals on local goods and services, you are supporting their annual fireworks tradition at Jamboree Days! For a $10 purchase price for the card, you’re getting a $150 value on products and services. (Bring the discount card to Da Sheets Lady booth for $5 off the luxury, super-soft sheets. If you don’t have a card, mention this newsletter for the deal.) Cards are available at Goodwin’s, ACE and the Chamber office.
If you didn’t get enough of the mountains, we will be in Wrightwood the next weekend, Saturday July 7th and Sunday July 8th. In Wrightwood, as well as getting soft sheets and soft women’s apparel, you might even catch sight of an Old West gunfight!
