"Who's The DJ?” will be presented in a single performance, on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 7:30pm, at Amnesia, located at 853 Valencia Street in San Francisco. Doors open at 6:30pm; Danny White spins DJ set 6:30-7:30pm.
Admission price is on sliding scale, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
"Who's The DJ?” is a one-man show, consisting of seven songs and seven character monologues, mixed with vinyl records and performed by Danny White.
The turntables are set up in the back of the stage where Danny mixes all instrumental music, and walks out to perform seven character monologues on top of each of the tracks. The characters are all people from his life who have said something strange, funny, or offensive—all of which have influenced the person that the DJ is. Ideally, the crowd would be on stage surrounding him, dancing to the music, and being "acted upon,” as if the characters are speaking to them directly.
The show is entertaining and funny, but also with a universal message of “don’t judge a book by its cover,” as the characters are all relatable people we may encounter in life.
Written and performed by Danny White, "Who's The DJ?” debuted on March 5, 2017 at the Annoyance Theater in Brooklyn and is currently in production at the People’s Improv Theater in New York City.
