Education: “I was 17, drugged and raped. When I learned I was pregnant, my family, counselors and doctors took control. They intended the best. They wanted to help me. And even though there are literally no studies showing any benefit from abortion, they had total confidence in the social myth that abortion is the best option, even the only option, in cases of sexual assault. Even many pro-lifers approve of abortions in cases of rape. So surely it must be |

the best choice, right? Not in my case. It just added more layers of trauma, self-doubt, grief and guilt. The negative impact lasted for years. I’m not alone.”- Deana Schroeder (1).
In a study of 164 women who had rape pregnancies, the majority of those who aborted said it only caused additional problems, and the vast majority regretted having abortions. 43% of rape victims who aborted said they felt pressured or were strongly directed by family members or health workers to abort. Among those who had their babies, satisfaction was higher, and none stated any regret for giving birth. (2)
However a child is conceived, he or she is still a precious new life, and does not deserve to be killed because of the crime of the father. In the case of incest, an abortion in addition serves to hide the sexual abuse, and are often arranged by the perpetrator.

Prayer: Dear Father God, please have mercy on women and girls who suffer sexual assault or abuse. We thank You for the biological protection that makes pregnancy in these cases rare. We trust in your plan, Lord; we know that You do not make mistakes! We know that You have a beautiful plan for every child that You create; You make them in your own image and give them as a gift to the world, with the ability to build up your kingdom. Help mothers who become pregnant in these circumstances to accept their children and love them, whether they make an adoption plan or parent themselves. Help everyone who encounters these children to treat them with respect as the special creations of your love. |

Action: The next time someone says that they condone abortion in the case of rape or incest, gently share that while other people may think abortion is a compassionate answer, the mothers themselves do not necessarily agree! The child is HER child as well as his, and God has a plan for their lives; He has made something good come out of something bad. God has made that child in His own image and he or she is just as alive and human as any other child, and has the same right to live. |
