Hello Subscriber – I hope your 2010 is starting out well. We are really pumped about the Full Moon in June! The conditions are looking really favorable, and the course is magnificent. As residents of Crowsnest Pass, we have extensive knowledge of the wilderness down here and we look forward to sharing that with our racers.
The race will be tough - no doubt about it. Navigation and sheer determination will be a big part of your success as we take you through the Castle/Crow wilderness. There are going to be a number of differences from last year. This time around you will have at least five stages so there will be a lot more diversity throughout the race. The paddling will be shorter and all on moving water through one of the most serene landscapes in the southern Rockies. The trekking in 2009 was stymied by late avalanche risk and this year we intend to keep you up high for much of the race, including an epic ridge walk (assuming Mother Nature continues to cooperate). The mountain biking utilizes our amazing network of trails including some classic high-country rollers that few people even know about. In my humble opinion, this is our best course.
We have a few special offers on right now. The first 20 teams signed up get a pair of our custom FMIJ DeFeet socks, courtesy of our sponsors at Ryeka Sport. Any teams signed up before May 1 also will receive a set of TA goody bags that will greet them at each TA along the way. The contents will be a surprise but you can expect everything from snacks to limited edition logo gear. Also, our early entry fee of $1200 ends on April 30 and on May 1 the price increases to $1400.
The race starts at Castle Mountain Resort and will finish at an undisclosed location in the Crowsnest Pass. I am sure you will find the traverse of the southern Rockies a weekend to remember!
If you have not already signed up, I do hope we will see you on June 26-27 for our 12th annual Full Moon in June. Please drop me a line or check out our website. Looking forward to race season!
