Hello Half Moon Racers! One week from today you will be in Coleman, getting ready to rock and roll out on the Half Moon course! We've had a bit of a rainy spell here but it looks to be getting up to the high 20s, and possibly low 30s, towards the end of the week (knock on wood). This update has some new information but also a refresher of some important details. You can also see the previous updates on our website. http://www.fullmoonadventure.com/hmia_updates.html

FAQs
Q: Is there still room for free camping at the Green Mountain site?
A: Yes - there is plenty of room. Just remember that there are no facilities beyond portable toilets. No fires are allowed on the site but you can bring cooking gear. You will be able to get in on Friday afternoon or evening but the gate is locked so you need to call me at 403.563.5766 to drive in. The entrance is here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=109628687437969690731.0004840b4ab55f80710fc&ll=49.632187,-114.497471&spn=0.001284,0.001926&t=h&z=19
Q: Are there showers at the host site?
A: Unfortunately, no. Think of this as sort of a Barbarian Weekend :) If you want a shower, you need to go to the swimming pool in Blairmore, or get a hotel.
Q: Is there anywhere to eat before and after the race?
A: There are lots of places around. Try the Fly Shop + Café right on Highway 3. For big plates of diner food, try Chris' in Coleman, just a few blocks west of the race start site. If you are heading east, try Stone's Throw Café in Blairmore. Make sure to bring a little cash with you as you as not all the places around here accept plastic. You do get a meal after the race starting at around 6:30pm.
Q: Will there be beer at the finish?
A: Yes - our sponsors at A&B Liquor store in Blairmore are providing a keg and possibly more... get there early or it may be gone. You can stop by and pick up your own as well. http://www.abliquorstore.com/
Q: When do we get the racer instructions?
A: This year we will give them out just after the 10:00am racer meeting. If you have not looked at the agenda, visit this link. http://www.fullmoonadventure.com/hmia_agenda.html
Q: Do we need to bring paddling gear?
A: Yes! We provide boats and nothing else. Please see the mandatory gear list. http://www.fullmoonadventure.com/files/HMIA_2010_Equipment_List.pdf
Q: Do we really need to bring headlamps/flashlights?
A: Absolutely. If you do get turned around in the latter part of the race, you must have a light or you will be in the dark. Pack your lights with your Trekking gear drop bag.
Q: We've never raced before - do you think we will finish?
A: This is a beginner race with advanced course options that will make it longer for intermediate racers who want a little more. If you keep your wits about you and keep moving, there is no reason not to finish.
Q: How long is the race?
A: The short course is about 34km and the long course about 55km... IF you navigate well and do not get too lost.

Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for volunteers to help staff the course. If you know of anyone who wants a fun day in the country where they can cheer you on... or mock you, depending on the type of friends you have, please send them our way. http://www.fullmoonadventure.com/volunteer_halfmoon.html

Cram!
Get in your last training rides, break in those new shoes, and get ready to rip it up out there! We are looking forward to August and the warm days it brings. Be sure to plan to stay in the Crowsnest Pass area as we want to have the biggest and latest after party yet!
Best Regards,
Brian Gallant & Andrew Fairhurst
