Dear Maple Village Families,
We have had many very interesting conversations in our monthly “Discussions with the Dean” this year. One especially pertinent topic arose early this month, and thus, we have decided to make it the focus of our next meeting.

As Waldorf parents, we do not often walk an easy road. We are making decisions about raising our children that perhaps look different from the way our friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers raise their children. We surround our children with toys made from natural materials, bundle them in layers, use homeopathic remedies, let them play in the rain and in the mud, and markedly reduce their exposure to media and screen-time. In the early years, we try to put them in a protective bubble and not expose them to mature topics and language, frightening images, and essentially anything in the adult world that causes them unnecessary worries and fears.
So - when do we put a little pin prick in that bubble? When do we let a bit of the outside in? What is the best way to do it, and how do we pick our battles?
Please join us for a discussion appropriate for parents of children of all ages from toddler to teen.
"Popping the Bubble”
Friday, February 3rd
9:00 - 10:15 am
The Grove Room
This is a time for adults only and is free! Bring your favorite beverage and an open mind.
RSVPs are helpful.
Warmly,
Lisa

Last call for childcare!!!
To All our Families,
The Board of Trustees invite you to attend our Annual MVWS Town Hall Meeting Tuesday, January 31st from 6:00 - 7:30pm.
This is our opportunity to share with you the State of our School, the successes we have had in the last 12 months, as well as the challenges we face. We will be introducing the new members of the Board of Trustees, as we have several who have joined recently. We will also update you on our site search as well as our budget for next year. Additionally we have a partnership with CSULB MBA program we would like to share with you.
So please put the meeting on your calendar and plan to attend. This is an adult-only event, and childcare will be available at school, but you must reserve a spot by Monday at 3:00pm. If you reserved a spot before the date change, please reconfirm with the office. Spaces are limited to 20 Grades students and 15 Early Childhood students. (Please, no babies or toddlers) $10 per child, $5 per additional sibling, payable directly to the childcare provider - please bring cash.

Angelina's Corner
As many of you know, we have had a corner dedicated to Angelina in The Grove Room with art supplies for anyone wanting to write a letter or draw a picture to honor her. If you have not yet done so, and still want to create a page, please do so before this coming Wednesday, February 1st at 3:00. We will then be taking all pieces to bind into a booklet for her parents.

Parent Village Corner
It's time to begin preparations for our largest and, dare I say, most FUN fundraiser of the year - the Gala! We have vacancies on the Gala committee and are on the search for those who would be willing to help plan and execute this event as well as those able to assist in general. This event requires the help of all of our community to make it a success! We need help in these ways:
- Gathering large donations for auction
- Organizing auction items
- Planning and executing the decor and centerpieces
- Designing and printing tickets and signs
- Set up the Gala on the day of the event
- ...and many more!
Watch for more information on the silent auction items each family will be asked to gather, as well as each class's themed auction basket. Please contact me to let me know how you would like to be involved in this important event.
With gratitude,
Francesca Delfin Preponis

Annual Giving Campaign
Our Annual Giving drive has begun! We are asking all families to give in ANY amount, so that we can report 100% community participation when we apply to various educational grants.
If you haven't already, please share our fundraising site URL via social media with friends and family:
Maple Village Annual Giving and let them know that their donations will help fund further improvements to the play yard, more special subject teachers for enriching educational experiences, and more!
It only takes a moment to share a link on Facebook, but the net effect of our whole community doing so can be HUGE, so thank you all for your support!
