Dear Maple Village families,
One of my favorite parts of being your Dean is being present for you and helping you be the parent you want to be.
Earlier this month, I held a discussion with parents on Creative Discipline. At the end of our time, we all felt the need to have something available regularly, and we brainstormed desired topics. In this light, I have planned the next opportunity.
Parents of enrolled students are welcome to attend:
Discussion with the Dean
Topic:
Raising Resilient, Confident and Courageous Children
Date:
Friday, November 4
9:00 - 10:15
The Grove Room
Here is a link to an article to read beforehand.

Important Reminder About Grades Aftercare
|
|
|
Just a reminder that there is a 10-minute grace period after the dismissal bell when Mr. Dan is with the children. After 10 minutes, he will usher all remaining children into aftercare.
1st and 2nd Grade: 2:30 dismissal. 2:40 aftercare begins.
3rd - 7th Grade: 3:00 dismissal. 3:10 aftercare begins.
Wednesday: 1:00 all-school dismissal. 1:10 aftercare begins.
We charge on an hourly basis (not fractions of an hour). So, if you miss pick-up, take your time and grab a cup of Joe!
Please Note: Grades Aftercare begins inside the Preschool classroom (on the church side, adjacent to the play yard).

Come out and continue your play after school with your friends. We will either take a short walk to the local park or a journey in the van to a new adventurous area, for meaningful, exciting activities. This is a program that allows an outward breath, fun & games whilst having a continuation of the Movement Curriculum. Here is what your child is receiving:
Co-ordination, Problem solving, Resilience, Confidence, Independence, Social skills, Fine/Gross motor skills, Responsibility and much, much more. This is lead by 2 Waldorf Teachers with over 30 years of experience in child development & movement.

6th & 7th Grade Evergreen Class
Currently we are studying economics. Some of our topics: How do we set up a value system for a barter economy? For a money economy? How do we use supply and demand to set a fair price? And what is a fair price for consumers? For producers?
We drew diagrams, had discussions, and listened to everyone's ideas. Then we shared our ideas with the class. We realized that although economic processes can be complicated, it all begins with people wanting to exchange their goods and services.
