Spring Break is upon us!! The students are showing signs they are ready, and I’m sure parents are looking forward to time with them. No matter how busy it is, I encourage all of you to treasure a slower pace and drink in your children. I am loving them each day!
A heartfelt thank you to our parents who are doing so much for our school daily to support their children’s education.
Thank you to:
The Wings Fundraising Committee and chair Jessica Tan for encouraging everyone to sign up for Scrip in order to raise easy money for our programs. And our Knit-A-Palooza committee for completing a very successful giving campaign.
Pam Villano for working with me to get as many people as possible signed into the Cool California Energy Challenge before the deadline at the end of this month!
Everyone on the Maple Connection Hospitality Committee, and to chair Carver Scott, for bringing food and drinks to our events, such as the monthly Walk Through the Classes, lectures, etc.
All the dedicated parents on the Gala Committee for meeting each Thursday to coordinate this amazing upcoming event at MOLAA!! The updates on food, entertainment and auction items are so exciting, and I know it will be an incredible evening together.
Our busy bees on the Hands Committee for not only sweeping, power washing, cleaning, installing fixtures and planting, but also to our Water Fairies, who are keeping our plants alive and healthy, even over the break.
Our Site Search Committee for meeting and communicating regularly and showing up at tours last minute in order to find the right next home for our school.
Our Room Parents for coordinating everything for their classes including our yummy feasts for our weekly faculty meetings!
To Jessica Clay for arranging a donation of all new chairs/desks for our Evergreen Class.
To all of you who are working behind the scenes in SO many ways.
At the monthly tours for prospective parents, I love to explain that they are not only choosing an educational venue for their children; they are choosing a community for themselves. Service work for a common cause is one of the most powerful ways to connect us. If you are someone who would like to join a committee and are not sure where to turn, please let me know. I can guide you. I am so thankful for our parents and the community they have built.
Have a wonderful two weeks!
Best,
Lisa J. McCarthy

Don't forget to reenroll ASAP! The enrollment process is now open to new families as well. Please stop by the office with a completed & signed enrollment contract for each child and $375 payment of annual registration & supply fees to hold your child's spot in the class. Enrollment contracts and payment must be submitted together and will not be accepted separately. Also, reenrollment must be done in person. Please make sure you see me face-to-face (and let me know if scheduling is an issue for you).
If you have questions about the reenrollment process, feel free to call/email me or stop by the office. Questions about your account balance or tuition adjustment should be directed to Suzanne Toro at
suzanne@maplevillageschool.org. All ATA families will need to reapply for next school year (i.e. update TADS application and submit new offer letter to Suzanne).
Thank you for reenrolling as soon as possible, as this allows us to better prepare financially and logistically for the upcoming school year!

We Won 1st Place Last Year - Let’s Do it Again!
Last year our families pitched in and helped us earn the first place Long Beach prize of $3,000. This is such an easy way for us to raise money while getting the word out about our school. All you need to do is log your energy usage data into a secure website. We even have parents to help you if needed!
You can start today and join in on the Cool California Challenge. Our team is set up and we just need our community to log in at
www.energyupgradeca.org and answer a list of questions on energy usage in your home. You must be a resident of Long Beach to participate. The challenge ends in March.
Here is a list of ways to earn more points:
- Completing MyEnergy Plan - 100 points
- Completing an Action - 50 points
- Review an Item - 150 points
- Uploading a Photo - 75 points
- Share on Social Media - 50 points
- Invite a Friend - 50 points

Scrip Program Corner
Scrip Profile
The Berry Family participates in the Scrip Program for Maple Village through the eScrip Program. In 2015 they earned over $400 for Maple Village. Here’s how they did it:
They registered their most used credit and debit cards, and their store loyalty card from their local grocer (Lazy Acres) with eScrip. They registered their Ralphs Community Card to earn for Maple Village. They grocery shop, dine out, shop online as they usually would. It’s that simple!
Their usual habits contributed:
- $15 in earnings from restaurants (eScrip)
- $130 in earnings from online retailers (eScrip)
- $205 in earnings from Lazy Acres community card (eScrip)
- $60+ in earnings from Ralphs Community Rewards
And their feedback about how easy or difficult it is to use Scrip? Steve Berry writes: “I really think eScrip, once it’s set up, is super painless to use. I also use the ForgetMeNot tool which reminds me when an online retailer is eligible for eScrip… very handy to me.”
Stay tuned next week for another Family Profile, and remember to sign up or participate through shopping at participating retailers, buying scrip through ShopWithScrip, or downloading the app(s) to earn entries into the Gala Tickets Drawing!
Info on how to sign up can be found at our website:
