Mike Fry (the jumprope guy) and I were able to take our 4th graders to Little Owl Preschool for an amazing jumprope demonstration. Our students’ routines bought much applause, and they even engaged the young children in jump roping as well!

Reminder: Dress Guidelines
Dear parents,
Recently we have been seeing an increase in media-related clothing being worn to school. Please refrain from sending your child to school in clothing featuring characters or logos from movies, television shows, video games, etc. Our Dress Guidelines are listed in the
Parent Handbook as follows:
Dress Guidelines
In choosing school clothes and helping your child get ready in the morning, select clothing that is:
• Comfortable, easy to move in (run, climb, crawl), and easy to loosen for the bathroom.
• Able to withstand dirt, grass, mud, water, paint.
• Layered for warmth and changeable weather.
• Does not include media characters or other commercial logos
• For outdoor play please provide well fitting, closed-toed sturdy shoes (with no wheels, blinking lights or sounds!). No flip-flops or Crocs. Shoes must be worn on campus at all times (including indoor shoes in the Early Childhood classes).
• Include a hat for outside wear, to provide protection from sun or cold; also include rainwear, whenever the clouds hint of rain. (You may hear Waldorf kindergarten teachers talk about keeping children warm enough. This comes from an understanding that the young child is just developing the ability to balance the opposing forces of heat and cold. With this balance comes our most harmonious mental and physical activity.).
• Identify sweaters, jackets, etc. with name tags.
• Each child has a cubby where extra clothes, coats, shoes, etc. are kept. Please check your child’s cubby regularly for things that can be taken home.
• Please keep your child’s toys at home. The teacher is responsible for engaging the children actively and creatively during school time.
• Please check with your child’s teacher before sending items that are not necessary. When items from home are lost at school, children often feel anxious and sad.
