Goodbye Western Union: How Global Mobile Standards Reduce the Cost to Send Money to ZERO
Wednesday, April 10
9:00am - 9:20am
As mobile wallets proliferate globally, become easier to send money to a mobile wallet. Major global banks and processors are endorsing emerging Mobile Payment Standards that will drive the cost of sending cash to close to zero. It becomes a loss leader for the banks to encourage customers to send money to their mobile wallets versus the competition. This does not bode well for the existing players currently dominating the cash transfer market, unless they match this new pricing paradigm of ZERO cost.
P2P Cash is a global mobile payment exchange allowing ANY mobile wallet to affordably exchange money. P2P Cash significantly lowers the cost of money transfer (50% of Western Union) through the use of these new global standards. These standards notably benefit the immigrant who sends money home, a $400 Billion industry worldwide.
P2P Cash is setting this global mobile standard by enhancing SWIFT, the global standard for wire transfers, to implement mobile clearing standards with the world’s largest banks and mobile wallet companies.
Standardization both lowers the cost of remittance and increases the convenience of sending/receiving cash with direct withdraw/disbursement into mobile wallets. The OASIS Group is facilitating the development of this global mobile Standard. OASIS has a long term successful track record in establishing industry wide standards. Their efforts led to the XML standard the software industry uses today.
