On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the National Diabetes Organization, DiaLeb, in collaboration with University of Balamand (UOB), held a free health Day on Friday, November 11, 2016 at ABC Ashrafieh, which offered the location to help spread awareness.

On October 23, 2016, Dialeb organized an awareness session in collaboration with Al Qubaiyat Municipality and introduced the audience to Avedis Kalpaklian, who started The Run Dialeb- LMT to help raise awareness about diabetes and raise funds for DiaLeb’s activities. |

Workshop
2nd Annual Diabetes Summer Camp – Baabdath
Our 2nd Diabetes Summer camp was held at Baabdath on Sunday, September 25, 2016. This camp was organized for type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients in collaboration with Baabdath municipality. The President, Dr. Hicham Labaki, along with members of the municipal council welcomed the participants of Dialeb and joined us to visit historic places in Baabdath with very enriching information about the places.

Glucose level in the blood is usually maintained normal by two hormones produced by the pancreas: insulin and glucagon. Insulin is secreted when glucose is high. It helps glucose enter our cells where it is the main source of energy, and as a result glucose decreases in the blood. Glucagon has the opposite effect; it is secreted when glucose is low. It then helps glucose stored in our liver to be released in blood.
