I was actually walking to the bathroom when I saw it…..the cards at AJ’s Fine Foods are next to the hallway that leads to the restroom…..”How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are”……It stopped me….maybe I’m the only person that hadn’t seen that phrase before but I tell ya, it stopped me…..it was just……well……profound.
How old would I be if I didn’t know how old I was……..
Well, I certainly wouldn’t be in my 20s…..it’s not that I have too much knowledge to be in my 20s but it’s the
type of knowledge that’s the important part……I know a whole lot of “what NOT to do”……and how do we learn what not to do…..well, duh….it’s like those old cloth hand towel dispensers with a warning to not put your head in it….some idiot….somewhere ….made that damn warning necessary…..life is a series of trial and error……you don’t see it this way in your 20s…..but it’s there……it’s your everyday….it’s all you know. I know not to put my head in the hand towel dispenser…..I would definitely not be in my 20s.
I was like a machine in my 30s…..chop chop…get shit done….fitter, faster, better, stronger, smarter…asses and elbows!!....you got time to lean, you got time to clean!….rise and grind…..ugh, its exhausting just thinking about it…..I have come to terms with the fact that I am never going to be perfect….this is why I know I’m not in my 30s……anything besides perfect was subpar…..
So I’d have to be in my 40s….which is exactly where I am…..(of course, 48 is at the top end....I can't say I'd rather be at the bottom end because you sophomoric goofballs would have a field day with that) ….
