Course Overview
The one and only Introduction to Health-Legal Interpreter and Translator Course offered in Australia and specifically developed by Language Experts is a 10 hour course, which includes 6 hours of face-to-face training and approximately 4 hours of self study and online work. The course provides participants with a general overview of interpreting in the medical and legal fields, two of the sectors where interpreters are most needed and engaged in Australia.
This course will enable participants to enhance their job readiness and career opportunities and provide existing practitioners with the opportunity to refine their skills.
The course will provide participants with:
- An introduction to Health-Legal Interpreting
- An overview of the different service delivery agencies within
each sector that employ/engage interpreters
- Specific contextual information
- A foundation for further study and practice
- Examination of the role and the expectations of interpreters
within each sector
- An introduction to terminology specific to the two sectors
At the end of this course, you will know the context in which you are working and know what you need to know to work effectively in that context!
