WHAT: ITSS has turned off mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for students.
WHEN: As of 11:30 AM today, 4/13/2023, MFA for students is not required to access our systems.
WHY: We have experienced problems with the system not enabling students to enroll in a timely fashion. We have turned off the requirement to enroll in MFA to ensure all students can access educational materials and enroll for summer/fall.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- What if I already enrolled in MFA? If you enrolled successfully, then continue using MFA. This makes your accounts much more secure from potential malware and ransomware.
- Can I opt out of MFA? If you have not successfully enrolled in MFA, you do not need to take any further action.
- Will MFA be required in the future? Yes, but we will not try to roll this out again until later in the calendar year. MFA is strongly recommended by our cyber insurance carrier, the Chancellor’s Office, and the federal National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
- What if I still cannot get access to the systems?
Also, Canvas is currently down due to issues at the State Technology Center. They are working to resolve the issues as quickly as they can. We will send an update when we are aware Canvas is back up.
Thank you for your patience.
