What's on Bill Caras's mind as Montana heats up, and dries up?

"There is a major difference in water requirements for established vs. new plantings.

With new plantings there is little room for error - they can't be allowed to dry out.  This applies even to newly planted 'drought tolerant' plants.  Unless you have poor drainage, deep soakings work best to ensure the entire root zone gets water.

For well-established plants, a few soakings in the heat of summer is all that is required."
The Alpaca Report

JoE and Zep are having fun hanging out with their new neighbors, the horses. And though we're used to seeing horses around Montana,  did you know alpacas are one of the oldest domesticated breeds of animals? It's true.

Good Luck to all participants in the 2012 Missoula Marathon and half-Marathon!!
