Dear Bichon Friends:
You are invited to join Bichon FurKids Rescue (BFK) as we participate as a first time Palooza Partner at Servapalooza 2011.
The event will be held on Sunday, April 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Liberty Station Naval Training Center (NTC) Park in Point Loma (near downtown San Diego).
As a Palooza Partner, BFK will host a “Service Station” with a hands-on service project that can be completed in 10 minutes by a young participant. We are planning to have our participants tie/put together the fleece blankets that our furkids receive as part of their adoption kits. Alternatively, they may assist in assembling the Adoption Kits. These projects are designed to be fun, collaborative and will fill a need for our furkids. In addition the activity will allow us an opportunity to provide information about rescue and BFK - and will offer information about other ways that Servapalooza Participants can connect with us in order to volunteer in the future.
We are privileged this year to have Marcie Kritzik, a wonderful adopter, and Nicole Andrews, one of our favorite trainers, to co-chair this event. We could use two or three volunteers to help prepare materials in advance of the event as well as volunteers to assist in our “Service Station”. If you have experience with making fleece blankets, we can definitely use your expertise.
More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this free, one-day event designed especially for young people, ages toddler to 25 -- and their families. Held in a festival-like atmosphere, the children and young people come to have fun, while also learning how to serve others by participating in project-based activities.
BFK is inspired by this opportunity to reach a new generation of volunteers, instill the value of community service and make personal connections with young people and their families. One day of service can lead to relationships that last for months and years ahead.
If you can volunteer, please contact me as soon as possible. We look forward to having you join us.
Sincerely,
Michele -----------------------------------------
