Members of the Catawba Nation have lived in the Piedmont region from upper South Carolina to lower Virginia (Including Charlotte) for at least 6,000 years. While contact with Europeans greatly reduced their numbers and territory, the tribal nation’s rich legacy and culture continues to thrive today. Join us this Friday to hear Kassidy Plyler from the Catawba Cultural Center share the unique history of the Catawba people in her presentation, “Catawba History 101” as we celebrate Native American Heritage Month.
