Shakespeare’s plays are well known and many have made their way into the popular culture providing the plot lines for numerous movies. But his works themselves can be hard to understand to modern ears. Join us at this Friday’s meeting as Dave Collins presents: “Shakespeare is Playing You”. He will discuss how to enjoy Shakespeare by not concentrating on the meaning of each word but looking at the big picture. Professor Collins will give examples of how Shakespeare uses language to get around our “don’t preach to me” defenses and move us towards understanding his way of seeing the world.

Great Decision topics for 2024 have been announced by the Foreign Policy Association. Six to eight of these topics will be selected for presentations next year. A book with articles on each topic will be available for pre-order beginning October 23. See below for more information.

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Senior Scholars prides itself on offering lectures on the topics that are selected by the Foreign Policy Association annually. |
