RALEIGH – The School Charter Initiative of North Carolina (NC-CSI) will be hosting an awards ceremony at noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the City Club in downtown Raleigh to honor one of the state’s strongest Charter School advocates. The Charter School Champion Award acknowledges and honors those who have played an important role in defending the principles of innovation education, the charter school law, and standing up for the rights of charter schools, their teachers, students and community members as part of the NC charter school movement.
“Charter schools in North Carolina have made tremendous strides through two decades of hard work from elected officials, advocates, teachers, parents and students. While this award recognizes but one individual, there are thousands who have made a profound and lasting impact on educational choice in this state,” said managing director Chad Adams.
The Charter School Initiative is a private company focused on marketing and public relations for charter schools across the state. Charter schools have a phenomenal record of achievement in North Carolina, but those success stories are often overlooked, ignored or simply attacked by special interest groups, bureaucrats, and elected officials who feel threatened by educational choice.
“We are pleased to be working with successful charter schools across the state who need a positive voice amidst the dozens of negative stories. NC-CSI ties all charter schools together with a consistent statewide narrative that lifts the entire movement,” said Adams.
The event begins at 10 am with meetings at the NC legislative building followed by the noon meeting at the Capital Club for the awards presentation with featured speaker Lt. Gov. Dan Forrest. The meeting will wrap up at a 1:30 meeting at thehistoric State Capitol.
