Effective tax representation sometimes requires telling the client’s story and explaining why the IRS should consider the client’s circumstances when assessing, abating or collecting tax, interest, or penalties. This NYCLA class focuses on how hardship affects tax, interest, penalties, and collection alternatives.
This is also a problem solving day. The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will be available to assist practitioners with problems they have not been able to resolve with the IRS. TAS' goal is to provide one-to-one guidance, direction, and case building ideas. If a client's problem meets TAS criteria, TAS will assign a Case Advocate to work with the tax professional to resolve your client's issue.
Tax Professionals wanting to take advantage of Problem Solving Day, please bring an executed IRS Form 2848 "Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative."
