Term Limits With Teeth
My Good Friends,
On November 4th, 2008, for the first time since 1964, the Second Congressional District Republican Party lost President, U.S. Senate and Congress all at the same time!
In order to win back our Congressional Seat, we must work together as a team. The 2010 Congressional race is not about my opponent or me. This race is about us, our Republican Team and doing our part to take back our Country!
A few weeks ago, when talking with my good friend Robert Dean, Founder of the Hampton Roads Taxpayers Alliance, he challenged me to put real teeth in my pledge to you. He suggested that
I should add a clause that if I do not fulfill “my pledge to you” that I would resign.
Well Robert, I accept your challenge.
When I am elected as Chairman of the 2nd Congressional District, if I do not complete ANY of my pledges, as stated below, by July 1, 2011, I will resign as Chairman.
My Pledge to You:
1.
I will invite Conservative groups who have left the party to rejoin. I will not merely talk about being a conservative; I will actually get conservatives involved.
2.
I will start a Membership Committee so we will never miss opportunities to expand our volunteer base (like were missed when Sarah Palin came to Virginia Beach)
3.
Together, we will prepare the 2nd Congressional District for the 2010 and 2012 Congressional and Presidential elections by reinvigorating our base and grassroots and reorganizing our City and County Parties where needed. 2011 Legislative Races will benefit from all of our hard work.
4.
I will hold a grassroots training workshop each year. It has been over two years since our last workshop. (Lack of training is why some of our unit committees are not reaching their full potential)
5.
I will always hold the Congressional District Committee meetings in an open and public place. (When the current chairman has held his meetings, they have not been in public locations that are easily accessible).
6.
I will hold regular District Committee meetings and publicize them.
7.
I will always keep all meetings open to all Republicans! I will never hold a meeting that is closed to our activists like what took place on Saturday, January 9th when the 2nd District Committee held a "Listening Meeting" with a couple of Elected Officials and some of the Congressional Candidates. Over 30 party activists were kept out of the meeting. Only after an hour were the rest of us allowed in. This is unacceptable for any reason!
8.
I will reinstate the 2nd District Web site and open a Facebook account.(After two years, the current chairman just finally started a website only because he is up for re-election)
9.
I will link on our Web Site all State Board and Commission vacancies that the Governor will be looking to fill.
10. I will link our Web Site to City and County Boards and Commissions that are vacant and will need to be filled. One of the best ways to effect change on a local level is for Conservatives to be part of the Committee / Board and Commission appointment processes.
11. I will create and hold Annual Congressional District Issues Conferences.
My Friends, If you like my ideas to improve our Party, please attend the Convention and vote for me as the next Second Congressional District Republican Chairman.
Thank you for all that you do for the Republican Party!
