The Weekly Republican Breakfast was founded by the Red White and Blue Club back in 1985 as an independent Breakfast to support the Republican Party. Over the years, the Weekly Breakfast aligned itself with the Party; however, it never became an "official" standing or special committee of the Party as per the Bylaws.
Years later, during Ken Longo's tenure as Chairman, he moved the Breakfast to the Westin Hotel and then changed the frequency to twice a month, then once a month, and then none at all. Needless to say, during this time attendance dropped like a rock. Thanks to Rodger Schoonover, and others, they re-established the independent Weekly Republican Breakfast and moved it to the Double Tree Hotel. When Tina Mapes was elected a couple of years later in 2016, we again decided to work with the Virginia Beach Republican Party, while maintaining our independence and so we moved our Breakfast to Tubby's Tavern. Two years later, we moved it to Old Beach Tavern and then in 2020, we moved it to the Golden Corral. In all of those instances, the agreements with those establishments were between the restaurant owners, my Breakfast Committee, and me, not the Party.
As the Breakfast began to grow again, we decided that this organization should be a place where ALL factions can gather, build fellowship, break bread, and learn about what is going on in politics, our community, and how we can help grow our Republican Party.
In light of this close election and the growing animosity between the two factions, the Breakfast Committee feels strongly that the Breakfast must remain independent and serve as a place for all factions to gather and unite. We will continue to recruit and encourage attendees of the Breakfast to join the Republican Party and we will all work together to elect Republicans.
We look forward to seeing all of you this Saturday morning at the Golden Corral!
Thank you for all that you do for our Republican Party!
