V.I.'s BAMBÚ STATION SINGS FOR CHARITY
Lead Singer and Founder, Jalani Horton of Bambú Station recently collaborated with noted producer Fly Commons of BeatTree Productions and the Jahlectrik Band to produce the song "Here We Go" for the Soles4Souls charity (www.souls4souls.com). It is part of the 2 song project "Walk In My Shoes" which is now available on iTunes
Said Jalani, "I was contacted by Fly over a year ago to sample one of the songs on our One Day album. That project featured acclaimed jazz trumpeter Jeff Bordes and rapper Arkain. I really liked Fly's production on that so when he approached me about doing this project for Soles4Souls, I saw it as an opportunity to work with him directly and in the bigger picture, to help others through music. Our collective energies came through with a great song called 'Here We Go.' It was great to also work with Raja and Bryce from Jahlectrik. Co-writing a song can be a little complicated, but they are great songwriters with really good vibes so the cohesiveness and soul came forward naturally. Big tune for a big cause!"
Soles4Souls was created by Wayne Elsey in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami that devastated Southeast Asia. The Soles4Souls concept is simple: it procures shoes from retailers, footwear companies, civic groups, churches, schools, individuals and nonprofit ministries and get them to those in need. It has delivered more than 16 million pairs of shoes to date.
Why shoes? "Shoes help prevent the spread of parasitic diseases that plague over 1.4 billion people worldwide, and they are a basic human necessity. Over 300 million children worldwide are without shoes. Shoes are very often considered a required part of the school uniform in developing countries, and without shoes, many children are unable to attend school." (www.soles4souls.com)
Persons wanting to contribute to Soles4Souls can do so directly through the website www.Soles4Souls.com or purchase the song "Here We Go" on iTunes.
Horton said further, " This is a major reason we play our music...to make a difference and we look forward to our fans supporting the song, the charity and the cause!"
Bambú Station's new album CHILDREN Of EXODUS will be released in early 2012.
