Our Heart Pine has a rich American heritage!

Southern Longleaf yellow pine, pitch pine, hard pine or old growth pine are all names for the very popular Heart Pine. Builders architects and homeowners across the country are rediscovering the natural beauty of reclaimed Heart Pine timber. Named because of the high content of heart wood, Heart Pine is different from other pines because of the tight ring growth pattern and its unique red -amber color.

Heart Pine's unique beauty and strength allowed for it to be used in public buildings and private homes alike. It's prevalence allowed early homes in the South to use Heart Pine for flooring, furniture and cabinetry. And because of the tremendous structural strength of Heart Pine, it was used extensively in larger construction as well. By the turn of the century however, virtually all of this Heart Pine had been harvested and used in the building of factories and warehouses throughout America.

What have we been up to lately you ask? Well...

Job Update: Reclaiming Boston.
The Dainty Dot Hosiery building in downtown Boston is abuzz with men and machinery. We have been at work for weeks salvaging some beautiful timbers from this iconic piece of Boston's industrial past. Within the next few months, what was once a towering tribute to the hard work and dedication of the city's textile industry will be replaced by a cutting edge residential/commercial hub for the citizens who live on the corner of Kingston and Essex. With so much beautiful wood coming out of this building, we can only hope that maybe, just maybe, some of the future tenants will choose reuse it in the new building. Optimistic or just plain smart? Time will tell!

building by the Jarmak Corporation.

The body of this telecaster is made from Redwood salvaged from an old industrial building.
